Since day 0 one of the major issue had been my flooring both main level and the upper level.

Squeaky and creaky floors are usually related to one of two things. Most squeaks are the result of the plywood subfloor rubbing against the floor joists. A simple first solution is to dust the squeaky area of your floor with talcum powder working it into the cracks. Which is all carpeted.

Squeak ender is a piece of hardware that effectively quiets those annoying squeaks by placing a steel mounting plate against the joist and screwing it to the plywood subfloor. Despite all my hard work there are still a few squeaks between unsupported seams in high traffic areas. Annoying floor squeaks common in many homes typically occur after the house has settled and flooring lumber has dried out and shrunk. A solid wood floor is usually fastened with hundreds of nails so squeaks often occur as the floor ages.

In older homes the presence of squeaky floors is simply a part of charm and comes with the territory. There is however one core cause of a squeaking floor. Sub floor is osb tongue and groove 3 4 on upper floor with carpet main floor sub floor is osb tongue and groove 3 4 on lower floor with 3 4 hardwood. The condo i owned previously had terribly squeaky floors so i wanted to avoid that with this house with preventative measures.

They come from one edge of a board rubbing on another. Squeaky floors may alert you to kids sneaking in past curfew but they ve got little else going for them. If your plywood subfloors are squeaking it is likely due to the way the plywood is fastened to the joists beneath your floor. I have posted the video below of the upper level.

The squeaks are coming from inside the house. The subfloor is 5 8 plywood. I would love some help with how to deal with those. Your floor joists or your choice of subfloor.

But some squeaks aren t caused by nails.
