Plywood substrate for granite under table top.
The type and thickness of plywood you use depend on the weight and type of the finish material.
The weight of the granite will keep the table top in place but if you prefer you may attach it directly to the table frame.
Any advice would be appreciated on this.
Use a power drill with a masonry bit to predrill holes through the plywood on the table frame into the underside of the granite.
Quartz table tops are about five times stronger than granite table tops and require zero maintenance outside of daily cleaning.
Granite table tops can be used both indoor and outdoors.
I m guessing drilling into the granite is not an option.
How do i attach the slab to my table assembly.
However i highly recommend support for overhangs over 9 because while granite is hard and strong to a point it is brittle.

She is complaining about the smell of the cdx and that she would like to use something without added formaldehyde because that s what all her cabinets are.
I m not sure if it needs it or not.

So you might use a plywood substrate to help replicate a thicker top or to reinforce poorly built cabinets or to help maintain position by adhering the stone to it or for other practical reasons but you don t do it to support stiffen or strengthen the stone.

On top of that will be a 60 inch diameter sheet of mdf 3 4 inch which will serve as the substrate to glue a 72 inch diameter granite table top 1 1 4 inch thick.

Do you think i will need more support under the mdf substrate to keep the 500 pound granite table top from cracking.
I have a granite remnant left over from a kitchen remodel and want to use it as a top for a coffee table.
So the reason it doesn t sound like he s going to put decking underneath the granite.
The cabinets are job built currently nothing on top of them.
Many won t stand behind them anyway due to its nature.
