In this video i m installing and wiring a pull cord switch.
Pull cord extractor fan wiring.
Its works by a humidistat a timer a pull cord switch on the fan when pulled comes on for the duration of the timer and a on off pull switch by the door.
Currently it is wired from the lighting circuit.
Hi this video is about wiring a bathroom extractor fan wiring fan to the three pole fan switch isolator and pull cord switch.
Because it s the last point of the circuit i decided to wire all at the switch that s why i h.
To make sure it all works i have connected a plug to the the end of the wiring and all works.
The existing switch has common l1 and l2 with the lives currently going together into com and both neutr.
This must be more than just switching off the mcb in the fuse box.
However it is something that most people are capable of doing.
This is because when you switch the fan off at the pull cord there is still a permanent live wire connected to the fan for the timer.
Look at the wiring for a bathroom fan on the internet.
Wiring an extractor fan is not a task that most people will feel comfortable doing themselves.
Im attaching a picture of each.
Now you need to turn the power back on and try the extractor fan out.
The fan i m connecting is man.
I have just installed an extractor fan in the bathroom and am now trying to connect it to come on with the light switch.
The time lag switch will allow the fan to be manually started but then.
I am having problems connecting it to the pull cord sitch.
Extractor fans with an integral timer or timed switch need a 3 core and earth supply to allow the unit to run on after a light is switched off.
This wiring plan will simply run the fan when the room light is on.
Pull the cord and check that the extractor fan comes on and is blowing in the right direction.
I have a bathroom extractor fan.
Over the years it has stopped working and i have simply disconnected taken out old one and put in a new one same type eg.
Options include a manual pull switch and a vacuum time lag switch.
It can also be adapted for separate switching if required.
Unlike other fan installations it does not need a permanent live connection.
If you have a timer on your fan you need to have isolation for maintenance.
